Unakite is a metamorphic rock named in 1874 after the Unaka Range of mountains of North Carolina where it was first discovered.  A colourful stone that was originally spelt Unakyte, it can be found in several locations close to the Blue Ridge Mountains and small pebbles to large boulders are common in state parks.  Although mostly found at higher elevations Unakite can also be found in river valleys having been carried down from the mountains.

Unakite is an altered granite composed of pink orthoclase feldspar green epidote and generally colourless quartz. It exists in various shades of green and pink and is usually mottled in appearance.

Unakite is a type of granite composed of the rock forming minerals orthoclase (the salmon pink colour), pistachio-green epidote and clear or grey coloured microcrystalline quartz.  For that reason it's classified as a rock not a mineral.

Unakite is extremely powerful for healing emotions. It allows us to address the negative emotions we’re holding onto and transform ourselves form a place of love. helps relieve bad habits and built up negative emotions, such as anger or resentment or even trauma.
