Sunstone is a type of feldspar exhibiting in certain directions a brilliant spangled appearance due to reflections from enclosures of red hematite in the form of minute scales. Because of this beautiful affect Sunstone is a popular ornamental stone. Sunstone throughout the world has slight differences in colour and can range from peach-pink to bright orange, as well as a light red.

Sunstone is also said to bring good luck and abundance, and turns negative energies and psychic attacks into positive energies. This stone increases personal power and will, as well as life force energy. It is also said to be helpful in contacting animal or spirit guides.

Sunstone has a history of at least a few hundred years and was discovered in 1837. Since then, important localities have been discovered in Sri Lanka, India, Mexico, Norway, Russia, China, Canada and the United States.
