Blending oil, also known as base or carrier oil, is used to dilute essential oils and absolutes before they are applied to the skin. They are so named because they "blend" or "carry" the essential oil into the skin. Unlike essential oils, blending oils do not have much scent or evaporate.
Grapeseed oil is suitable for all skin types. It is extremely soothing, an excellent emollient and is ideal for skins that do not absorb oils easily. It does not aggravate sensitive skin and is purported to have regenerative and restructuring virtues due to its fatty acid content, which is important for skin and cell membranes. Its slightly astringent nature may also help to tone the skin, whilst leaving skin feeling satiny soft.
