Citronella Essential Oil 10ml

Origin: Citronella originated in Sri Lanka and was widely used in China as traditional medicine for rheumatic pain. It was widely used in many cultures for a variety of purposes even keeping animals away from certain areas. Citronella oil is obtained from a scented grass that grows wild and cultivated in tropical areas.  Widely used as an insect repellent.  It can be diluted with a base oil and applied directly to the skin in particular on pulse points.  Also commonly used in incense sticks, again as a repellant to many forms of insects.  It is also effective in garden preparations as a deterrent for cats.  To be effective it should be used repeatedly every few days.

Citronella oil is one of the essential oils obtained from the leaves and stems of different species of Cymbopogon. The oil is used extensively as a source of perfumery chemicals such as citronellal, citronellol and geraniol. These chemicals find extensive use in soap, perfumery, cosmetic and flavouring industries throughout the world.

Citronella oil is also a renowned plant-based insect repellent, and has been registered for this use in the United States since 1948. The United States Environmental Protection Agency‎ considers oil of citronella as a biopesticide with a non-toxic mode of action. Research also shows that citronella oil has strong antifungal properties, and is effective in calming barking dogs.

How to Use Product:

Dilute in a carrier oil of your choice - maximum 10%.

Apply to the appropriate area of the skin as directed.

Add a few drops of water and use in a burner.

Add a few drops to bath water.
