Chlorite Quartz is the name given to any quartz that is included or coated with chlorite. It occurs in phantom formations. Chlorite deposits on the quartz surface and then grows larger, forming a kind of green ghost crystal within the quartz itself. The smaller green ghost crystal is referred to as Phantom Quartz.
Quartz is a form of silica and is the most common mineral the earths crust. As such Quartz and Quartz crystals can be found in large quantities the world over. It can be found in every country on earth with important commercial deposits appearing in Brazil, China, South Africa, Madagascar, Australia, Canada, the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and Russia. Regardless of this fact very clear and large Quartz crystals are highly prised by collectors.
Epidote is one of the most outstanding display materials. The finest and most desirable form of this mineral is in the delicate elongated crystal that is extremely lustrous and often interconnected. This form is highly treasured by collectors and creates one of the finest mineral showpieces. The colour of Epidote is almost invariably green, in all the different shades and tones, with a pistachio colour habit being very typical.
Epidote is an aluminium-iron mineral that can be found in either crystal or stone form. The stone was first described in 1801 by R.J. Hauy and was named after the Greek word meaning to “increase”. They are commonly found in Norway, the U.S.A, and Brazil, which has been known to have the nicest crystallized forms of Epidote ever seen.
