Brucite was first discovered in 1824 by American mineralogist Archibald Bruce. Brucite is a mineral composed of Mg(OH)2, comes in all ranges of colours depending on locality. Typically it forms in subparallel aggregates of plates, as well as tabular crystals, each of which can be fibrous to elastic in rigidity.

Brucite is a magnesium hydroxide mineral whose colour can range from white, grey, green, blue, yellow to brownish red depending on any impurities present. It is often found in association with Serpentine or calcite based minerals such as Aragonite.

There is a lemon yellow botryoidal variety found in Pakistan which is quite rare. Brucite from Killa Saifullah District, Baluchistan, Pakistan is known to display a vibrant yellow-green colour, some comparative to a bright yellow highlighter.

Brucite can be found all across the globe, with a new deposit recently being discovered in Wadh, a town in the Khuzdar District of Baluchistan, Pakistan. Other localities include Italy, Russia, Spain, the United States, Germany, Austria, China and Australia.
